Fencing

Fences create privacy of your property while adding a very nice feature to the yard which also bring with them their own unique bylaw requirements & stipulations.

  • Residential fencing between neighbors cannot exceed 2.0m (6’ 6”) in height.
  • City side residential fencing cannot exceed 6' in height.
Please keep in mind that when developing a fence joining neighbors there is the opportunity to split the bill so don’t forget to have a conversation with them about it, as who doesn’t want 50% off... For Fencing related bylaw information please refer to section 7.5 of the following PDF.

Fence Material Choices

Standard materials - Natural Woods - Cedar / spruce Fencing.

Although wood may seem like a cheaper way to go at the time. In many instances & especially dependand on the type of wood selected. You may be required to routinely stain the product to create longevity and life time of the fence. Typically every 2-5 years most fences will need to be restained. If water is no longer beeding and is now soaking in, that is good evidence staining is required.

Pressure treated Wood Fencing

A little more for pricing as no stain is required although stain is often used for aesthetics & added durabiltity in may cases anyway. Using Pressure treated wood as your fencing material can increase it's life span up to 20 years, weather dependand of course. Routinely staining even pressure treated fence material will always increase longevity & durability of the fence to boot.

Composite Fencing

Typically of the most expensive fencing materials available is composite board which earns its price tag by being an extremely long-lasting choice for a fence with little to no maintenance costs. Very easy to clean by simply spraying which a pressure washer. Composite material suppliers provide guidance of up to 30+ years of durability.

Metal Fencing

Metal fencing options have always been a good choice in the right situation. Chain link & aluminum bar, vertical & horizontal panel to name a few. Modern manufacturing & installation techniques have made metal fencing options more readily available and cost effective than ever before.

Please feel free to contact us with any questions or concerns you may have in regard to any of the fencing options listed above.
